RVC: Skoltech buys software from US firm Radisys for 5G platforms

MOSCOW, Sep 14 (PRIME) -- The Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) has acquired from U.S. corporation Radisys a software program to develop in Russia open 5G platforms for connection operators, state fund of funds Russian Venture Company (RVC) said on Monday in a statement.

“Skoltech has purchased from Radisys a full software stack for base stations of 4G and 5G, including those supporting the millimeter range. It is standard software of OpenRAN that can be used by Skoltech without limits from the foreign partner,” RVC said.

“Specialists of the institute will develop on the base of this software base stations of 4G and 5G. The main customers are operators and producers willing to make local equipment for 4G and 5G.”

The project is implemented under the state program of leading research centers established about Skoltech in 2020. RVC picks such centers. The initiative will receive a grant of 300 million rubles.
